The National School of Physics & Math (NSPhM) and the Republican Scientific-Practical Center “Daryn”, supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is holding the 18th International Zhautykov Olympiadon Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science which is aimed to develop international relationships, promote the significance of scientific knowledg
The Olympiad will take place in blended format from 9 to 15 January 2022. The participants will attend distantly (online) as it was last year, however, we invite 1 or 2 team leaders to visit Almaty. There are several reasons: team leaders will have a chance to control the coordination process from Almaty, they will take certificates and diplomas to their home countries, and the organizing team will be able to prepare safe conditions for a smaller number of visitors.
Students and teachers from specialized physics-mathematics schools, lyceums, gymnasiums, and other schools with specialized physics-mathematics classes of the Republic of Kazakhstan and overseas countries are invited to participate in the event. The Olympiad involves team competition. Each team should consist of 7 participants: 3 participants in Mathematics, 2 participants in Physics and 2 participants in Computer Science, and 2 team leaders (a teacher of Maths, Physics, and Computer Science). A team leader should be able to speak any of the three official languages of the Olympiad: Kazakh, Russian or English. Each contestant is allowed to do the tasks in his/her native language. Teams with less than seven members are permitted to participate. More than one team from a single country is allowed, but the Organizing Committee of the Olympiad reserves the right to limit the number of school teams representing one country or city.
The results of the Olympiad are determined by individual scores in each subject area. The team rating is determined by the individual results of the members. The best schools are awarded diplomas and valuable presents.
The participation fee per team (1 team leader, 3 contestants in Maths, 2 – in Physics, 2 – in Computer science) from the same institution is USD 300. For teams of less than 7 people or teams assembled from different institutions, the fee is USD 50 per person.
The application must be submitted no later than November 30, 2021.
