Press-release on the results of the 8-th International Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science

The 8-th annual International Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science that is a collaborative project of The Republican Scientific-Practical Centre “Daryn” and The Republican Specialized Physics-Mathematics Secondary Boarding School named after O.Zhautykov for gifted students has successfully been brought to a conclusion.

54 teams (343 participants) of specialized schools from 18 countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Romania, Bulgaria, Indonesia, India, Mongolia and Afghanistan participated in VIII IZhO.

VIII IZhO Awarding Ceremony took place on January 20, 2012 at 4 pm in the Palace of Students at the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, Almaty city. The President of The Republican-Scientific-Practical Centre “Daryn” Sholpan Kiribayeva, the IZhO Jury Chairman, Rector of Kazakh National University after al-Farabi Galymkair Mutanov, the IZhO Co-chairman, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Dzhumadildayev and Ambassador of India in the Republic of Kazakhstan Ashok Kumar Sharma delivered a congratulatory address.

29 participants of the Olympiad were awarded with golden medals (Kazakhstan-9, among them RSPhMSBS-4/Alibek Sailanbayev, Saken Dushayev, Iliya Vilkoviskiy, Temirlan Zharkynbek), 58 participants got silver medals (Kazakhstan-19, among them RSPhMSBS-6/Temirlan Seilov, Yerzhan Imanmalik, Alisher Tortai, Yerzat Dulat, Ayat Ospanov, Daulet Zhalpakov) and 84 participants got bronze medals (Kazakhstan-30, among them RSPhMSBS-11/Mukhit Daurkhanov, Temirlan Kabylbekov, Mukhamejan Baimoldayev, Alimzhan Amanov, Erkebulan Aripbai, Madiyar Turar, Kuanysh Kudaibergen, Yersyn Mukai, Nurlan Zhusupov, Sattar Stamkulov, Azamat Mukhamejanov).

Among 171 medals Kazakhstani teams were awarded with 58 medals, among them 21 belong to RSPhMSBS.

At the Awarding Ceremony a few educational grants of KazNU after al-Farabi and IT University were delivered to the best VIII IZhO participants. The Deputy President of the Administrative Council of Independent Educational Organization “Nazarbayev University” Khadisha Dairova awarded a special Certificate “The Best School of the Republic of Kazakhstan” to the Principal of RSPhMSBS according to Nazarbayev University rating of schools of 2011.

The results of the Olympiad defined 7 best teams – the IZhO winners. They were gifted with special prizes from the IZhO general partner Social Foundation “Foundation of Alumni of The Republican Physics-Mathematics School” and the IZhO general sponsor “Exxon Mobil Kazakhstan Inc”. (Every member of the team-winner got video cameras for the 1st place, photo cameras for the 2nd place and mobile phones for the 3d place). Laptops were delivered to the IZhO Grand Prix winners.

In a team competition a team of Advanced Educational Scientific Centre of Moscow State University (AESC MSU) (Moscow, Russia) awarded Grand Prix of the Olympiad.

Diploma of the 1st Degree is delivered to The Republican Specialized Physics-Mathematics Secondary Boarding School named after O.Zhautykov for gifted students (Almaty, Kazakhstan). Sofia High School of Mathematics (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Tajik-Turkish High School after Hoji Kamol (Dushanbe, Tajikistan) teams shared the 2nd place and got Diploma of the 2nd Degree. Model High School of Mathematics after Academician Kiril Popov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria), Physical-Mathematical Lyceum of National Taras Shevchenko University (Kiev city, Ukraine) and TUDOR VIANU National High School of Computer Science (Bucharest, Romania) awarded Diploma of the 3d Degree.  Nine teams are marked with Certificate of Excellence.

The general partner of the VIII International Zhautykov Olympiad Social Foundation “Foundation of Alumni of the Republican Physics-Mathematics School” and general sponsor “Exxon Mobil Kazakhstan Inc” have provided support in organization and implementation of the Olympiad at high level during a seven year period. The event has also been sponsored by “Atameken Holding” financial-industrial group and “Intel” company. The IZhO INFO partner is Modern Education magazine.

Press-release on final stage of the 8-th International Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science

The 8-th International Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science is near its completion. The Olympiad is a collaborative project of The Republican Scientific-Practical Centre “Daryn” and The Republican Specialized Physics-Mathematics Secondary Boarding School named after O.Zhautykov for gifted students. The Olympiad is implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and supported by Almaty city local authority (akimat).

There were 54 teams (343 participants) from 18 countries such as Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Romania, Bulgaria, Indonesia, India, Mongolia and Afghanistan that participated in VIII IZhO.

VIII IZhO Jury Board represented authorized experts from 7 countries – Kazakhstan, Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Belorussia and Uzbekistan. The Chairman of the Jury was Galymkair Mutanov, the Rector of KazNSU after al-Farabi. The co-Chairman of the Jury was Askar Dzhumadildayev, an Academician of The National Academy of Sciences of the RK.

Involving the best specialized school teams of CIS and far abroad states in IZhO, implementing the tasks in three subject groups annually, as well as ranking individual achievements and listing the best school teams among the top specialized schools make the IZhO a unique competition and highly recognized by experts around the world.

VIII IZhO Awarding Ceremony will take place on January 20, 2012 at 4 pm in the Palace of Students at the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, Almaty city.

There are about 30 golden, 60 silver and 90 bronze medals prepared for the contestants in the independent championship. The results of the Olympiad will define 7 best teams – the IZhO winners. They will get special prizes from the IZhO Organizing Committee. The Grand Prix winners will get 7 laptops. The 8-th IZhO INFO partner is Modern Education magazine.

The opening ceremony of the 8-th International Zhautykov Olympiad took place on January 16, 2012 at 4pm, in the Palace of Students at the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, Almaty city.

On behalf of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, the Rector of Kazakh National State University after al-Farabi Galymkair Mutanov has greeted the IZhO participants and guests with a welcoming speech.

The members of the Jury that include scientists from 7 countries – Kazakhstan, Russia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Belorussia and Uzbekistan were invited on to the stage and introduced to the participants and guests.
The stage was also given to all the teams participating in the Olympiad. This year 54 teams (343 participants) from 18 countries of the world such as Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Belorussia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan, Romania, Bulgaria, Indonesia, India, Mongolia and Afghanistan are taking part in this challenging contest.

The opening ceremony of the VIII International Zhautykov Olympiad in Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science will take place on January 16, 2012 at 4pm, in the Palace of Students at the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi, Almaty city. The Closing Ceremony is on January 20, 2012.

Information letter 2012


Dear friends,

The Republican Specialized Physics-Mathematics Secondary Boarding School for Gifted Students named after O.Zhautykov, supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republican Scientific-Practical Center “Daryn” is holding the VIII International Zhautykov Olympiad on Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science which is aimed to develop international relationship,  promote the significance of scientific knowledge and improve cooperation and collaboration between physics-mathematics schools around the world.

The Olympiad will take place on 15-21 January, 2012 in Almaty city, Kazakhstan.

Students and teachers from specialized physics-mathematics schools, lyceums, gymnasiums and other schools with specialized physics-mathematics classes of the Republic of Kazakhstan and overseas countries are invited to participate in the event. The Olympiad involves team competition. Each team should consist of no more than 7 participants: 3 participants in Mathematics, 2 participants in Physics and 2 participants in Computer Science and 1 or 2 team leaders (a teacher of Math, Physics and Computer Science). A team leader should be able to speak any of the three official languages of the Olympiad: Kazakh, Russian or English. Each contestant is allowed to do the tasks in his/her native language. A fewer number of participants in each team as well as participation of several school teams from one particular country is acceptable. The Organizing Committee of the Olympiad has a right to limit the number of school teams representing one country or city.

The results of the Olympiad are summed up in personal credit in each subject area and in team credit by total number of scores. The rating of the school introducing more than one team is defined by personal contribution of each of the team contestants represented by the school. The best school is awarded by diplomas and valuable presents.

The registration fee is 50$ for each contestant and team leader. The Organizing Committee bears the team expenditure on food and accommodation during the Olympiad period in Almaty. Travel expenditure is due to a guest country.

We would ask you to send your application forms (pl. see the table attached) to the Organizing Committee not later than December 10, 2011 (in case you need a visa) and not later than December 25, 2011 (in case you do not need a visa).

January 17 – 1-st Tour of the Olympiad
